A First Glance...

Japan is cleaner, my classes are smaller, shorter, the kids are lower level but the adults are higher, the girls are cute and its societically colder...

Taiwan (so far) is grimier, the classes twice as long, three times the size, yet the kids are better behaved, more skilled but the adults are actually lower level for their ages, the girls are beautiful and the people are more open and sincerely welcoming.

I've met more people more easily in my first two weeks here than i did in my first two months in Japan...

Just an initial impression. =)

Huh... *Blush*

Aww poo... turns out the typhoon came and went yesterday without much incident... While I was sleeping.

And now its all fine and sunny. The Mornings After always tends to have a way of making things seem not as bad as they originally looked dont they?

And there was me being all melodramatic and premenstrual and stuff. Boo. (>_<)

I've just noticed that some of the hair on my arms have split ends. That can't be normal...

Gimme Attention!

I'm a pretty deep sleeper - my family can testify to the fact that I can sleep though a jackhammer wacking about outside the window. So much so that I need at least 3 alarms set to go off continuously for about an hour before I actually start hearing them. Back in England my alarms would wake everyone else at the other end of the house first before getting me up.

And yet I've always seemed to wake up to the sms/email alert of my phones no matter how deep the sleep. Back in the day - that soft single beep text alert tone from my old Nokia was possibly the most comforting sound in the world, and way more powerful than all the alarms in the world.

Whoosh Bang

A lightning bolt just popped a power line just as I happened to look out the window just as my particular carriage on my particular train happened to pass that particular point at that particular time when it went to strike.

If I was a deeper soul I should probably inject some meaning into the amount of convergence needed for me to witness such an event...

"Holy crap did you feel that bang?!?"

Signs that its time to move on to the Next Country...

I've lived in Japan for a year, two months and nineteen days now...

Today I bought a regular can of Coke from a vending machine without thinking about it.

Its actually the first time I bought a Coke since arriving in the country... usually I go for the weirdest llama-sweatjuice drink I can find.

Aieeee me subconscious is talking to meeee...

The Japanification of My Arse.

You know, when I first moved into my apartment 6months ago, I thought that the jet-wash function on me toilet would be something that was fun but gimicky - not really a feature I would use reguarly. I didnt really believe my students when they told me that I'd get used to it (this is the kinda stuff we usually talk about in class)...

But now; whenever I goto a public loo - I'm finding myself missing that extra-thoroughly clean feeling you get from having a cool stream of water spraying direct and true, washing away the mushy and watery bits, breaking apart the hard and clingy bits.

Multiple passes of 2-ply just doesnt cut it no more... not even if its quilted.

*sigh*

Just A Small Observation...

Girls in ski-gear are really hot!

Hee!

I'm kinda observant like that.

I only just noticed... all the cars I've seen in Japan are always well-kept, shiny and new-looking... there's actually not that many cars over 5yrs old here and those that are, are immaculate. There no rusty bangers here!

How have I only just noticed?!

..and now that I have - its kinda freaking me out a lil. (o_O)
